¡ªLarger Scale, More Specified Themes, Optimized Matching Services & Richer Economic and Trading Yields
The 2nd China-ASEAN Expo, as the previous one, was arranged with high standard. State leaders of China and the ASEAN Countries including H.E. Mr. Zeng Qinghong, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and the Vice President of China; H.E. Mr. Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia; H.E. General Soe Win, Prime Minister of Myanmar; H.E. Mr. Choummaly SAYASONE, Vice President of Laos; H.E. Mr. Somkid Jatusripitak, Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand and H.E. Mr. Nguyen Tan Dung, First Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam together with over 100 dignitaries at or above ministerial level granted their presence. The 2nd Expo had the involvement of global business circles and achieved rich economic and trading yields.
I. Larger Scale
The 2nd Expo is larger in scale than the previous one. The 1st Expo set up 2506 indoor standard booths with an exhibition area of 50,000 m2. 1505 enterprises participated in the 1st Expo as exhibitors and 18,000 people attended as purchasers; while at the 2nd Expo, 3300 standard booths were set up with an exhibition area of 80,000 m2. 2000 enterprises participated in the 2nd Expo as exhibitors, among which, 1538 were Chinese enterprises, using 2518 booths and 462 were from outbound China, using 782 booths. Among the 25,000 exhibitors and purchasers participated in the 2nd Expo, 12,000 were buyers from the Chinese Mainland and 6000 were buyers from outbound China.
II. More Specified Themes
The 2nd China-ASEAN Expo set up 4 themes including the National Theme, Theme of Commodity Trade, Theme of Investment and Cooperation as well as Theme of Tourism. In the National Theme and Theme of Tourism, the promotion of China-ASEAN Cities of Charm has successfully extended the friendly communication between China and the ASEAN Countries from state-level to city-level. 11 Cities of Charm, namely, Beijing of China, Bandar Sri Begawan of Brunei Darussalam, Siem Reap of Cambodia, Jakarta of Indonesia, Luang Prabang of Laos, Putrajaya of Malaysia, Madalay of Myanmar, Cebu of the Philippines, Singapore of Singapore, Chiang Mai of Thailand, and Hanoi of Vietnam, showcased their respective distinctive features and advantages in the regards of trade, investment, technology, culture and tourism, etc. And provinces (regions/cities) in China exhibited their rich tourism resources to the visitors. 5 major categories of commodities including machinery & equipment, electronics & household appliances, hardware & building materials, light industrial products & handicrafts, agricultural produce & foodstuffs were showcased in the Theme of Commodity Trade.
In the Theme of Investment and Cooperation, 430 booths were set up for exhibiting the international economic cooperation and advanced & practical technologies, which focused on the cooperation projects in the fields of international contracting, labor cooperation and advanced & practical technologies and were featured by the ¡°Go Global¡± of the Chinese enterprises. Investment promotion activities like project negotiations and contract signing ceremonies were also held during the 2nd Expo and thus created a favorable business atmosphere for business professionals from home and abroad.
III. Optimized Business Matching Services
Business and project matching services were strengthened at the 2nd Expo. The China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat focused on inviting more purchasers to the Expo by extending invitations via the ¡°Global Purchaser Database¡± set up by MOFCOM and via relevant chambers of commerce, and thus upgraded the quality of purchasers. On the other hand, 6655 investment projects from China and other countries were present at the 2nd Expo, among which 5592 were Chinese investment inviting projects, 336 were overseas investing projects of Chinese enterprises, and 727 were investment inviting projects of other countries. Quite a number of businessmen successfully found their partners through the on-line matching system of the official website of the Expo as well as through various kinds of promotion conferences held during the course.
IV. Richer Business Yields
Richer business yields have been achieved at the 2nd Expo with the active involvement and supports of organizations and people concerned. The total amount of import and export deals concluded topped USD1.15 billion, a 6% increase over the previous Expo; 28 investment promotion events were arranged during the Expo; 126 international investment cooperation projects were concluded, with a contractual amount of USD5.29 billion, which was 5.9% more than the previous one; and 263 investment cooperation projects of Chinese enterprises were signed, whose total volume well exceeded RMB50.18 billion, 5.5% more than the previous Expo; and among the 414 advanced & practical technology projects participating in the 2nd Expo, 66 were successfully concluded with a total volume of RMB710 million.
