China and the 10 ASEAN member states are dedicated to the construction of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area (CAFTA), and transportation is among the 10 priority cooperation fields confirmed by both sides. Since China and ASEAN jointly initiated the construction of CAFTA in 2002, the bilateral trade volume has been increased by 30% each year. Last year, among the $160.8 billion of trade volume between China and ASEAN, $100 billion was achieved by marine transport.
