The China - ASEAN Expo

The China - ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) is proposed by H.E. Wen Jiabao, Premier of China, co-sponsored by the departments in charge of economy and trade of China and the 10 ASEAN countries as well as the ASEAN Secretariat, and organized by the People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It is a state-level international grand event for economic and trading cooperation, which is held annually in Nanning, Guangxi, China. The CAEXPO aims to propelling the construction of the China - ASEAN Free Trade Area (CAFTA) and shares business opportunities for cooperation and development. It focuses on commodity trade, investment cooperation and trade in services, and has emerged as a new platform for business cooperation between China and ASEAN.

The CAEXPO has been staged with great success for 3 consecutive years, playing an important role in promoting the development of economic and trading links between China and ASEAN. In 2005, the CAEXPO was awarded as Top Ten Famed Exhibitions of China, and its standing organization, the China - ASEAN Expo Secretariat won the Award of Special Contribution to Convention & Exhibition Sector of China. And in 2006, the CAEXPO was listed among the Top 10 Influential Expositions Sponsored by the Chinese Government.

It is the common desire and urgent demand of China and the ASEAN countries to enhance regional and sub-regional harbor cooperation for win-win results, to integrate resources and to upgrade the overall service capacity of the China - ASEAN region. The Pan Beibu Gulf Cooperation is now shimmering and sparkling, and the One Axis & Two Wings Strategic Proposal, which involves the Nanning-Singapore Economic Corridor as the axis and the Greater Mekong Sub-regional Cooperation and the Pan Beibu Gulf Cooperation as the two wings, is well recognized by both sides.  It brings about invaluable opportunities for ports/harbors development within the region. Therefore, the China - ASEAN Port Development & Cooperation Forum, sponsored by the Ministry of Communications of China and organized by the People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, will beyond doubt provide an effective platform for ports/harbors cooperation of China and ASEAN, and to create opportunities for international ports and shipping enterprises to participate in the development of ports/harbors within the China - ASEAN region.

Concurrent events will include the Exhibition of Cities of Charm (harbor cities), Exhibition of Harbor Machinery & Equipment, Negotiation Conferences on Harbor Investment Projects, etc.
