VP pledges Indonesia's participation in Guangxi expo in China

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Vice President Yusuf Kalla said that he would instruct the Ministry of Trade and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) to make the necessary preparations for participation in the 2nd China-ASEAN Expo to be held in the China`s Guangxi province capital of Nanning, on October 19-20, 2005.

"The Vice President has pledged to intruct the ministry and the chamber to prepare the participation in the expo," Mohammad Taha, deputy chairman of the Indonesia-China Committee`s advisory council said after accompanying a Guangxi trade delegation at a meeting with the Vice President at his office here on Wednesday.

In the meeting the mission also extended an invitation to Kalla to attend the expo, he said.

The group is in Indonesia to hold an expo at the Jakarta International Expo complex in Kemayoran here on Thursday.

With the Chinese rapid progress and cooperation with ASEAN, Taha said that the Association of Southeast Asian Nations would move forward because they could sell their products to China which has a vast market and promising purchasing power.

Meanwhile, Tan Weiwen, a diplomat at the Chinese Embassy here said the expo will provide an opportunity to ASEAN and Chinese businessmen to display their latest products and expand their trade relations.

According to him, through the expo held annually ASEAN products can enter China which has a population of 1.3 billion.
